Dwight is probably saying this because during his last stint with the Lakers he had hyperglycemia from eating two dozen servings of candy every day, which led to having tremors and shaky hands. He only stopped when the Laker nutritionist or health specialist told him to.

The lakers nutritionist consultant Dr. Catherine Shanahan wrote the book Deep Nutrition and has Dwight Howard and Kobe featured on the back of the book lol. Good book to read with lots of science behind it.

Your body is how you do everything. Take care of it. You’d be amazed by how everything in life gets a little better. Please don’t be like some of my friends who think people are just bragging about being in shape when they give this advice.

Are you 18-23 anymore? No, you're not going to recover that fast. But like 28-35 is that sweet sweet prime of where you've been around long enough to have built some muscle but young enough to remain lean-ish with some effort.

Of course, if you spent your 20's drinking bud light and eating Dominos, yeah, it'll show, but you can absolutely still be in shape at 30.

You can still be in shape at 50. Yes it takes more effort and commitment but it beats sitting on the couch thinking about getting better.

Shocks me how most men let their bodies fall off in their mid 20's... I know a lot of is due to families and stuff... but you can always find room in the day to eat healthy (which is 90% of it) and do 30 minutes of workout 3 to 4 days a week...

Men get better with age physically in my opinion verse woman.

I don't think it's that shocking, because most people don't start to do anything different in their mid 20's, they just do the same thing they always did (which is eat whatever you want whenever you want and not worry about it, like Dwight).

Much harder to form new habits at that age.

Plus it's so much easier (in the moment) to eat garbage and lay on the couch, then to eat healthy and go to the gym.

Makes perfect sense to me how so many people (both men and women) let their bodies fall off.

我觉得这没啥可大惊小怪的。因为很多人在20多岁的年纪还没有做啥不同的事,他们就是和以前一样该干啥干啥(想吃啥吃啥,也不操心,就像霍华德一样)

那个年纪要想培养出新的习惯是很难的。

可是躺在沙发上吃垃圾食品要容易多了,过了这个阶段,他们才会健康饮食、出门锻炼。

我觉得很多人任由自己的身体膨胀是极其合理的。

I could eat that shit all day as a teen and through my early 20s. Can't even stomach it now. Not judging anyone who eats it but I find your statement bizarre. Literally the last thing I'd want after working all day and coming home to a family.

go to the gym right after work. You get out at 5, depending on your commute, you can be back home by 7 with a 1 hour workout.

Or go before work and then don’t think about it all day. I do about an hour every morning - Been going for 20+ years - and I feel great and I definitely don’t look my age. People also need to learn that it’s 95% diet though. The gym helps me stay toned but my diet is what keeps me thin. It’s a constant struggle.

Serious comment: You would think that getting paid millions would mean that all the basketball players would have a nutritionalist and eat all that kale and healthy food. But habit is habit. A lot of these basketball players grew up in poverty and didn’t know what it’s like to have a healthy meal. When you get your first paycheck, you probably buy the things you couldn’t have before, a car, house, etc...healthy food probably isn’t a top priority.

Legit happy to see Dwight turn things around. I hope he doesn’t tweak his back or get injured.

Same.  I try to sleep well and eat healthy most of the time, regularly exercise. I’m only really 20 lbs over my high school weight, which isn’t bad because I was thin as a rail and actually underweight in HS (6’, 150lbs in HS)

Some of my HS mates are starting to look old, they have grey hairs and are 40-50 lbs overweight.

I'm Dwight's age and seeing some of my friends I grew up with who took care of themselves vs ones who didn't is really a trip.

Not that any of us have Dwight's bank account, but basic self maintenance goes a long way.

It's wild how much older you look when you're unhealthy/out of shape, even when you're still relatively young in your mid 20s. I used to be ~90 lb overweight until this year, and now that I'm a healthy weight I literally look at least 7 years younger. When I was fat everyone thought I was like 30+ yrs old, now people assume I'm several years younger than I am

When I was 18 I was 185 pounds (I'm 6'1) got up to 360 by age 23 looked like absolute dog shit now I'm 240 at age 25 and probably stronger than I've ever been but still could stand to drop twenty more. It can get better.

I was going on this trajectory 260 at 6'2 by 20 but the last couple months I've realized what I've been doing to myself and I've dropped 10 pounds just cutting out most of my fast food eating. It was starting to feel embarrassing going out and seeing friends from high school and not being the same energetic person and it's just a fact that I don't look good fat
